FAQ

How do I take CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) can be ingested into the body in multiple ways.

One of the most common and potent methods is to:

Drop the CBD oil under

the tongue with a pipette and leaving it there for a couple of minutes before swallowing. This allows the oil to quickly enter the bloodstream.

Other effective methods of ingesting CBD include:

Inhaling via a CBD Vape or CBD Flower in smoking papers.

There are also ways to ingest through the mouth that include:

CBD edibles such as lollipops, CBD gummies and CBD Chewing Gum,

Drinks such as CBD Herbal Teas,

CBD Capsules are also one of the best ways to ingest without the taste.

What are the differences between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil?

CBD Oil is made with the leaves, flowers, and the stalk of the hemp or Cannabis Sativa plant.

This is the only part of the hemp plant where the Cannabidiol (CBD) compound is found.

Hemp Seed Oil, is made using the hemp seeds from the hemp plant, meaning there is little to no CBD content in Hemp Oil.

Both CBD Oil and Hemp Oil subsequently offer different health benefits, for example, CBD offers relief from inflammation, help with sleep and pain and overall wellness.

Hemp Oil offers a rich omega content which is amazing for joints and bones as well as a rich source of protein and fiber.

Will CBD get me high like cannabis would?

When the cannabis plant is consumed in its entire form, i.e. smoked or added to an edible, strong amounts of THC will alter the state of mind.

In the metaphorical example above where the cannabis plant is a dining table consisting of 113 drinks, or compounds, only one drink will alter our state of mind. This is the same with the cannabis plant, where THC isn’t eliminated, the psychoactive compound, THC remains and  this is where we’d feel a ‘high’.  The only way to get ‘high’ from the cannabis plant is to consume a large dose of the THC compound.

When cannabinoids such as CBD are extracted from the cannabis plant, the THC compound is completely isolated from CBD.

There may be a very slight trace of THC inside the CBD compound, but this amount would not be enough to alter our state of mind.

The small amount of THC present in some of our CBD products is legal in the UK and in most countries around the world and it is not enough to get you high.

What is THC?

THC, or scientifically known as tetrahydrocannabinol, is one of the 113 cannabinoids identified in the Cannabis Sativa plant.

THC is the main psychoactive compound of cannabis and is responsible for

the ‘high’ feel experienced when smoking cannabis or consuming the whole plant in its entirety.

THC is currently illegal in the UK and all CBD products are allowed to have very small traces (0.2%) in their products. Traces this small never or very rarely have any effect on our state of mind.

CBD is an entirely separate compound with very different effects, none of which are psychoactive.

How old do I have to be to buy CBD?

At Inspired Life CBD, you have to be at least 18 years of age to buy any of our products that contain CBD.

What do the different strengths of CBD mean?

At Inspired Life CBD, we offer the following strengths of CBD oil and pastes:

(Listed strongest to weakest, most CBD oils are 10ml in size and CBD pastes 10mg)

3000mg/30%

2000mg/20%

1500mg/15%

1000mg/10%

500mg/5%

300mg/3%

250mg/2.5%

The percentage amount that is written on the product label indicates the CBD concentration, i.e. the measurement of drop-for-drop strength of the CBD content.

For example, in a 10ml bottle that has 1000mg of cannabinoids/CBD, this will have a CBD concentration of 10%. So, 10% of every drop is pure CBD. The rest is a carrier oil.

A 20ml bottle that has a 5% CBD concentration is half as strong as the 10ml bottle with the same content despite containing the same 1000mg amount of cannabinoids.

The price is also usually an indicator of the strength, it is often more expensive to buy a more potent CBD oil or paste.

The CBD timing effects can depend on a number of factors, including (but not exclusive to):

+Body weight

+The method of ingestion – edible, smoking, oil.

+A full or empty stomach

Overall, it can take between 1-6 hours to experience a therapeutic effect of CBD such as body relaxation.

When vaping CBD, the effects can be experienced in as little as 5-20 minutes.

CBD Timing Effects, how long does it take for CBD to work for me?

You may have heard this term in relation to CBD and the cannabis plant as a whole.

When we smoke or vaporize CBD, our bodies absorb a wide array of botanical compounds.

Each compound passes into our bodies with different effects and benefits.

The biological behaviour of these compounds may alter when they mix with other compounds. This is called ‘the entourage effect’.

Alike humans, who alter moods depending on environments, the compounds found within the Cannabis/Hemp plants are the same.

The two primary cannabinoid compounds of interest in recent times are THC and CBD. The cannabis and hemp plants also contain other beneficial cannabinoids such as CBC, CBN, and CBG.

Terpenes are also present in the plant which are aromatic compounds such as those found in essential oils such as eucalyptus, and lavender.

A study authored by cannabis researcher, Dr. Ethan Russo, suggested that cannabinoids and terpenes potentially work together when they enter the human body.

For example, the cannabinoids CBD and CBG have been found to inhibit the potentially fatal bacterial staph infection, MRSA.

A few more potential synergies detailed in Dr. Ethan Russo’s study include:

+The pine-scented terpene pinene may help counteract compromised memory caused by THC.

+A combination of CBD and the peppery terpene, carophyllene, may be beneficial in the treatment of addiction.

+CBD and the citrus-scented terpene limonene, might work together to alleviate anxiety.

+THC plus the cannabinoid CBN can potentially yield enhanced sedating effects.

In a 2010 study, patients with cancer pain were given either a pure THC extract or an extract containing near-equal levels of both THC and CBD—patients given the THC/CBD combo reported having less pain.

While the compounds found within cannabis plants continue to wow scientific researchers, the ‘entourage effect’ relates to how those compounds work together to provide optimal health in humans and mammals.

What does Isolate CBD and Full Spectrum CBD mean?

You may have noticed within our Inspired Life CBD Oils and Paste, there are two versions of CBD offered, Isolate CBD or Full Spectrum.

Is CBD legal in the UK?

Yes, CBD is legal in the UK provided it has been derived from an industrial hemp strain that is EU-approved or comes from outside the EU.

CBD must contain less than 0.2% of psychoactive compound THC with one exception following the November 2018 change in UK legislation to offer prescription cannabis to treat Multiple Sclerosis, in this case,

Sativex, which is a 50-50 mix of THC and CBD, has been legally approved for use in the UK as a treatment for multiple sclerosis.

This blend of THC and CBD oil can only be obtained via medical professionals and cannot be sold for recreational use.

Full Spectrum CBD?

Full Spectrum CBD is an offering of the whole plant or in other

words, full spectrum CBD contains all of the other cannabinoids found in the cannabis sativa or hemp plant.

Is Inspired Life CBD Vegan friendly?

Our Inspired Life CBD range is all vegan-friendly. There are no animal

products in any of our own branded range and no animals were harmed in the process of extraction and production.

We do stock Non-Vegan and Vegan products from other brands.

Will CBD collide with my prescribed medication?

This is a wide-open area for discussion. The answer all depends on what prescribed medication being taken and the amount.

Recent publications concluded that CBD can negatively interfere with the following types of prescribed medications:

+Antidepressants (such as fluoxetine, or Prozac)

+Medications that can cause drowsiness (antipsychotics, benzodiazepines)

+Macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin, clarithromycin)

+Heart medications (some calcium channel blockers)

We’ve also heard some incredible testimonials from several customers who have completely replaced prescribed medication with CBD.

Check out Alice’s story here, she replaced antidepressants with regular CBD dosing.

Please consult your medical professional before taking CBD.

What is Hemp?

Hemp is a variety of the cannabis sativa plant species that is grown

specifically for the industrial uses of its derived products.

Hemp is one of the fastest growing plants and was one of the first plants to be spun into usable building materials 50,000 years ago.

It is perfectly safe for human consumption and incredibly, it can be refined into a variety of commercial items, including paper, fabric, clothing, biodegradable plastics, paint, insulation, biofuel, food, and animal feed.

A recent surge in offering of hemp products is down to a recent lift on the ban of industrial hemp.

Hemp has lower and almost untraceable concentrations of THC than marijuana and higher concentrations of CBD which drastically decreases or eliminates any psychoactive effects when consumed.

In simpler words, Hemp is a diverse gift from earth used in materials and optimizing well being within humans and animals.

What is the difference between Cannabis oil and CBD oil?

The difference between Cannabis Oil and CBD oil is the presence of the psychoactive THC compound.

Cannabis Oil is currently illegal in the UK because it has a high content of THC.

CBD has no or very little THC and is legal within the UK.

CBD Oil

CBD Oil is most often made from the hemp plant or from the stem and leaves of the Marijuana plant. This is what is sold by a growing number of health food stores and online retailers.

In terms of biological compounds, Hemp isn’t much different than the recreational marijuana plant, but there is one very significant difference.

CBD oil does not contain the psychoactive compound known as THC, and if it does, it is a very minimal (and legal) trace that will have no effect of ‘getting high’.

The Hemp plant offers a potent dose of CBD and more compounds from the plant such as CBDA, CBC, CBGA, CBN and CBCA.

CANNABIS OIL (also know as MARIJUANA OIL, THC OIL, RSO (RICK SIMPSON OIL))

Cannabis Oil has all the cannabinoids that CBD Oil has with a high dose of an additional compound, called THC.

This is the one compound that is illegal in the UK.

No health food stores or online retailers are permitted to produce, stock or sell products that contain more than 0.2% of THC.

Not only does Cannabis Oil contain THC, it is usually derived from the flower of the marijuana plant which is rich in the psychoactive compound.

CBD is taken from only the leaves and stems.

Despite its illegality in the UK, cannabis oil has become legal for

recreational and medicinal use in a wide number of US states as well as all of Canada and the Netherlands.

It is said to help prevent and treat cancer as well as chronic pain conditions and MS.

Can I use CBD when pregnant or breastfeeding?

The FDA of the USA advises against the use of cannabidiol (CBD),

tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and marijuana in any form during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Here’s the article published by them:
